Inside Ignite Academy’s 2026 Summer Camp Experience
Are you looking for the ultimate youth entrepreneurship camp in Toronto? It goes beyond traditional day care to equip your child with real-world skills. Our 2026 Summer Camp redefined what kids’ summer activities can look like. Over an immersive two-week journey, our campers transformed from curious students into confident future CEOs. They built their own businesses from the ground up in Toronto’s West End.
Designed to be accessible for all families while supporting local businesses, Ignite Academy offers a one-of-a-kind, exclusive entrepreneurial experience for youth. From pitching to university presidents at downtown tech hubs to selling out inventory at the Annette Farmers Market, here is an in-depth look at how we empowered the next generation of Toronto business leaders this summer—and what to expect in 2027.
Why a Youth Entrepreneurship Camp? A Toronto-Based, One-of-a-Kind Experience
Toronto is a globally recognized hub for startups and innovation, but opportunities for elementary-aged children to participate in this ecosystem are rare. Ignite Future Skills Academy was built to bridge that gap.

We deliberately keep our camp sizes small by design. This exclusivity ensures that every camper receives highly personalized mentorship. We also believe that financial literacy, leadership, and business creation should be accessible to all families. By grounding our camp in the local community—visiting local West End businesses and partnering with neighbourhood markets—we teach children that entrepreneurship is not just about making a profit, but about creating value and supporting the local economy.
The 2-Week Curriculum: Building a Business from Scratch
Our camp operates on a structured, hands-on curriculum that takes students through the entire lifecycle of launching a startup. Rather than simply listening to lectures, our Future CEOs are active creators.
Daily Worksheets and Guided Ideation
Each morning, campers at the youth entrepreneurship camp received daily interactive worksheets that served as their business blueprints. These guided exercises helped them navigate the foundational stages of entrepreneurship.
- Discovering Strengths: Identifying their unique talents and how those translate into leadership styles.
- Brainstorming and Validation: Generating creative business ideas and learning how to solve real consumer problems.
- Branding and Asset Creation: Designing logos, taglines, and marketing materials to give their companies a distinct visual identity.
Prototyping and Teamwork
An idea is only as good as its execution. Campers spent significant time moving from concept to physical reality:
- Building Prototypes: Creating initial versions of their products and refining them based on feedback.
- Inventory Production: Working collaboratively as a team to manufacture enough stock for live sales.
- Public Speaking Mastery: Practicing vocal projection, eye contact, and confidence-building techniques to ensure they were ready to pitch their ideas to anyone.
Holistic Development: Screen-Free Socializing and Mindfulness
A successful entrepreneur requires a healthy mind and body. We designed our daily schedule to ensure campers stayed active, grounded, and socially engaged—completely screen-free:
| Activity Type | Focus Area | Camp Implementation |
| Outdoor Physical Activity | Team Building & Community | Daily trips to local West End parks for collaborative games, plus guided visits to local Bloor West Village businesses to see entrepreneurship in action. |
| Indoor Cognitive Play | Problem Solving | Brain teasers, Rubik’s cubes, and strategic card games designed to stimulate cognitive function and encourage natural social interactions. |
| Mindfulness & Movement | Stress Management | Professional yoga instructors leading sessions on body movement, breathwork, and meditation techniques for young minds. |
Week 1 Highlight: Into the Heart of Toronto’s Tech Hub
To truly understand the startup world, you have to experience it firsthand. The highlight of our first week was a field trip to the Digital Media Zone (DMZ) offices in downtown Toronto—one of the world’s leading tech incubators.

Our campers had front-row seats to a live pitch competition featuring Basecamp finalists, witnessing young entrepreneurs in action. But the most impactful moment came when our Future CEOs met Dr. Roberta Iannacito-Provenzano.
Dr. Iannacito-Provenzano, TMU’s Provost and Vice-President, Academic, has been appointed as the university’s 10th president and vice-chancellor. She makes history as the first woman to lead TMU, starting her five-year term in January 2027.
Instead of being intimidated, our campers rose to the occasion. Several of our young entrepreneurs bravely stepped right up to Dr. Iannacito-Provenzano and delivered their 60-second elevator pitches! It was a remarkable display of the confidence and public speaking skills they had been honing all week.
Week 2 Highlight: Live Sales at the Annette Farmers Market

In week two, theory became reality. Our campers packed up their prototypes, marketing materials, and inventory, and set up booths at the local Annette Farmers Market.
This was the ultimate test of their entrepreneurial journey. Campers were responsible for:
- Engaging with real customers from the Toronto community.
- Conducting on-the-spot market research and customer surveys.
- Managing transactions, handling money, and executing their sales strategies.
The results were phenomenal. Because they had built products the community actually wanted, the majority of our student businesses completely sold out of their inventory. The pride on their faces as they counted their hard-earned revenue was the true highlight of the summer.
The Grand Finale: Shark Tank-Style Pitches
The immersive two-week journey culminated in a high-stakes, Shark Tank-style pitch presentation. Standing in front of an audience of peers, mentors, and community members, every camper presented their fully realized business plan. They showcased their branding, explained their financial models, and demonstrated their products, proving that age is just a number when it comes to business acumen.
Community Impact: Supporting Local

At Ignite Academy, we believe in a circular local economy. To celebrate their hard work, every camper went home with a premium goody bag valued at $100. Rather than filling these with generic plastic toys, we curated swag, high-quality treats, and gift cards sourced directly from local Toronto businesses. This reinforces our mission of community support and gives families a reason to explore and shop local.
Campers walked out of our doors with more than just a goody bag. They left with new friendships, soaring self-confidence, and solid, actionable business plans they can continue to grow.
Looking Ahead: What’s Coming in 2027

As we prepare for the 2027 summer camp season, we are actively working to make the Ignite Academy experience even more impactful. Next year, we will be expanding our network to bring in:
Exciting Prizes: Seed money and mentorship packages for the top-performing camper businesses.
More Guest Speakers: Local Toronto founders and business leaders to share their journeys.
Real “Sharks” and Investors: We are inviting actual local investors to sit on the panel for our final pitch presentations, providing real-world feedback.
