Ignite Future Skills Academy Inc. Camps Policies & Parent Guide

Welcome to Ignite Academy Camps! Our goal is to provide a safe, creative, and empowering environment where your child can build confidence and entrepreneurial skills. To ensure a smooth experience for all campers and staff, please review our policies below.

1. Daily Schedule & Attendance

  • Camp Hours: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
  • Drop-Off: 8:45 AM – 9:00 AM. Please walk your child to the sign-in desk.
  • Pick-Up: 3:45:00 PM – 4:15 PM.
  • Late Pick-Up: A late fee of $15 per 15 minutes will be charged for pick-ups after 4:15 PM to compensate our staff.
  • Absences: If your child will be absent or late, please text or email us by 8:30 AM so teams can adjust their project roles for the day.

2. Sign-In/Out Safety Procedures

  • Authorized Pick-Up: Children will only be released to adults listed on the Authorized Pick-Up Form. Staff will ask for Photo ID if they do not recognize the adult.
  • Self-Sign Out: Children aged 10+ may sign themselves out only with a written consent form signed by a parent/guardian prior to the start of camp.

3. Health & Allergies (Crucial)

  • Food Handling: Our curriculum may involve working with food ingredients (e.g., lemons, sugar, fruits). It is the parent’s responsibility to disclose ALL allergies on the registration form.
  • Nut-Free Zone: To protect campers with severe allergies, please ensure all packed lunches and snacks are 100% Nut-Free.
  • Illness: If a child has a fever, vomiting, or contagious symptoms, they must stay home. They must be symptom-free for 24 hours before returning.
  • Medication: Staff are not permitted to administer medication unless it is an emergency EpiPen or inhaler, for which a separate Medical Consent Form is required.

4. What to Bring (The “Entrepreneur Kit”)

Please label all items with your child’s name.

  • Lunch & Snacks: A hearty nut-free lunch and two snacks (morning/afternoon).
  • Water Bottle: Refillable (we stay active!).
  • Clothing: Comfortable clothes that can get messy (paint, glue, lemon juice). Closed-toe shoes (sneakers) are required for park play and building safety.
  • Sun Protection: Please apply sunscreen before arrival. Pack a hat for our park lunch hour.
  • Leave at Home: Electronics (phones, iPads, Switches) and personal toys. We want campers to focus on their team and the creative process.

5. Park Visits & Outdoor Safety

  • Weather Permitting: We walk to nearby parks such as Beresford Park daily from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM for lunch and recess.
  • Safety Ratios: Staff will maintain a strict headcount and supervision ratio during the walk and while at the park.
  • Boundaries: Campers are given specific physical boundaries within the park and must adhere to the “Buddy System.”

6. Behavior & “Professionalism” Code

Since this camp focuses on teamwork and business skills, we expect campers to act as “Good Partners.”

  • Respect: Zero tolerance for bullying, physical aggression, or exclusion of teammates.
  • Participation: We encourage “trying everything,” but we respect if a child needs a quiet moment.
  • The Three-Strike Rule:
    1. Verbal Warning / Coaching moment.
    2. Cool down break & discussion with the Director.
    3. Call to parent/guardian. If behavior endangers others, the child may be removed from the program without refund.

7. Photo & Video Release

  • We may take photos and videos to document the campers’ prototypes, and the Friday Showcase. We make best efforts to not capture campers’ faces in any of the photos.
  • These may be used on our website or social media to celebrate their work.
  • Opt-Out: If you do NOT wish for your child’s image to be used, please check the “Opt-Out” box on the registration form.
